Please register your children for Nippers online, using the link below.
Junior Activities Life Saving, which is commonly known as Nippers, is made up of infants, primary and secondary school aged children. The age groups range from Under 6’s to Under 14’s.
The aim of North Entrance SLSC is to develop and educate Junior Activities Members, where they learn about Surf Awareness and Safety, as required by the Surf Life Saving Australia ‘Surf ED’ program. Our focus is on participation, fun and skills development. We also promote progression and integration into the Senior ranks of the Club.
Our JAC and or Water Safety Officer will speak to all Nippers about beach safety, surf conditions such as rip currents, sandbars and waves, upcoming events and news for parents, so it’s important that everyone is there on time.
Our Rookies learn some basic First Aid and may also learn CPR when they reach the age of 13. We may include our Nippers in learning basic First Aid and Surf Education if the weather conditions are not suitable to run Nippers.
At North Entrance SLSC we also have a unique program for our Tiny Tots. During Tiny Tots, infants up to 4 years old learn to have fun at the beach and get a great introduction into beach safety and the beginning of Surf Life Saving. Tiny Tots are too young to join the Club themselves, however they are able to participate if one parent is a member of the Club. Simply head to the Registration page to join!
Preliminary Skills Evaluation
A Preliminary Skills Evaluation (previously ‘pool proficiency’) must be completed by all Nippers in all age groups prior to commencing any Club training or Sunday Nippers. This can be signed off by a Bronze Holder or Swim Coach.
We are running 3 x Pool Proficiency sessions at the Entrance Ocean Baths in the lead up to Sunday Nippers beginning on 7-NOV-2021. These will begin at 8:30 on the following Sundays:
Please click here for a description of the skills that your Nipper will be assessed against during the Preliminary Skills Evaluation.
Please print off the following form if you are having the Preliminary Skills Evaluation assessed by a qualified Swim Coach. Ensure you print the correct age group bracket! Please bring the completed form along to your child’s first training session or Sunday Nippers.
The Nippers handbook will be available here once updated for season 2021/22.
Nippers Sunday Events
Nippers are held each Sunday Morning throughout the summer season within the Club. We are on the beach each Sunday from 8:45am, where we all meet in front of the Club House. Our Nippers are to line up in their Age Group where the Age Manager will mark off their attendance.

Children are registered in the age group according to the age of the child on 30th September. For example, if your child is 11 years of age on 30th September, the child will be in the Under 12′s.
